　　在近未来的日本东京，人们对谣传即将有世界末日的到来感到十分害怕，加上经济萧条社会政治局势动荡不安。军方一直在秘密进行着一项名为“阿基拉”的研究。研究的内容就是对一些具有超常能力的小孩进行培养，使其意志力变得极为强大，甚至可以对抗军队，摧毁整个城市。从而培养出新的一代人类，以领导人类走上光明之路。

　　本来是飞车党少年的铁男因为一起意外事故，而开启了自身的超常神秘力量，慢慢的他发现自己的意志力强大的足以和军队抗衡，于是他开始疯狂的按照自己的意志来做自己想做的事情，他一心想找到所有秘密的关键所在——阿基拉。可他万万没有想到这种可怕的无法控制的力量最终也将他送上了毁灭之路。

　　日本著名动画大师大友克洋监督并导演的这部作品秉承了他一贯的风格，社会动荡不堪、人类没有生存的希望，世界需要拯救，影片中穿插的更多的是对人类心理、对整个社会的深层次思考。他的代表作品有《她的记忆》、《最臭兵器》、《大炮之街》、《老人Z》、《世界末日》、《圣迹守护者》以及《Perfect Blue》等作品。
